S313 Knife Wing

Dale Anderson
Price: $1,200.00

Description

Large copper Knifewing Dancer by Arizona artist Dale Anderson.  This handcrafted copper sculpture is 50” high and 52 1/2” wide.

The Knifewing Dancer is not a Kachina.  He is a legendary figure and has been a symbol of protection for the Zuni people for many centuries. This figure is a symbol of wisdom, strength, courage and honor.

An Arizona artist, Dale creates his copper, bronze, brass and steel sculptures in the mile high rim country of central Arizona.  He has devoted five lustrums to studying and learning Native American and western history and art.  His interpretation of “Kachinas” has been accepted worldwide.

About the artist

Dale Anderson

Dale Anderson studied law at UCLA and served in Viet Nam with the 82nd Airborne division.

At the age of 30, he left the law profession and turned his full attention to art, his minor in college and his avocation since childhood.  Dale has mastered various art media, such as painting in oils and acrylic as well as sculpting in clay.  His foremost interest is in metal art.  His work reflects an evolution of impressions through refinement and a deep understanding of his subjects.

Dale’s imaginative style embraces a variety of subjects, ranging from earth objects to ethereal conjuring.  He sculpts with the welding torch, crating each piece and maintaining control from start to finish.  No two are alike.  His medium is a combination of metals:  steel, copper and brass with the welding torch and chemicals as his brush and palette.

Anderson’s work is displayed in private and commercial collections worldwide:

-          Western Airlines

-          Turbo Resources

-          Greyhound

-          Exxon

-          Sony

-          Olin

-          Anheuser-Bush

This renowned artist’s need for solitude has taken him to the Rim Country of Arizona where he and his domesticated wolf, Wolfen, enjoy the various stimuli nature provides and the time and space to enjoy and interprets them in metal.
