Michealis Burnham

Navajo/Hopi

Michealis Burnham (Navajo-Hopi, of the Mescalero Apache clan) was born in Tuba City, Arizona in 1968.  He began painting as a child and won his first award when he was 10 years old. Later he was self-employed as an artist, where he received many awards and recognition for his work.

Michealis Burnham died April 3, 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona. His passing at a young age has not only been experienced as a true loss to the southwest art community, but has made the artist’s original mixed media work rare and difficult to come by.
