Traditional and Contemporary Hopi Pottery

Hopi pottery is made of clay dug from or around the three mesas in Arizona. Gray clay turns beautiful shades of apricot when fired, and yellow clay turns into shades of red. Most of the Hopi potters are from First Mesa, although the white clay pottery is usually from Third Mesa.
